Strap on your helmet and lace up your shoes because today is National Bike & Roll to School Day The first-ever national Bike & Roll to School Day took place on May 9, 2012, in coordination with the League of American Bicyclists’ National Bike Month. Through participation in these athletic programs, over 800,000 students annually are extended opportunities to receive lessons in leadership, sportsmanship and citizenship. Over 2,000 student athletes each year experience winning a championship.

The FHSAA sponsors over 3,500 championship series games through which 144 teams, and 294 individuals are crowned state champions in 32 sports each year. The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) is committed to this ideal, and to the belief that a quality education does not begin or end in the classroom.įor over a century, the FHSAA – through the cooperative efforts of its member schools – has provided opportunities for high school students in Florida to participate on a fair and equitable basis in interscholastic athletic programs that produce vital educational benefits. By participating in Clay County District Athletics, you have the opportunity to improve all areas of your students life by experiencing the BEST student athlete experience in the State of Florida. Interscholastic Athletics can provide college scholarship opportunities for student athletes but more importantly participation teaches our students very important characteristics that they will carry with them throughout their lives after graduation. Data has shown that interscholastic athletics provide all of the following benefits: higher grade-point averages, better attendance records, lower dropout rates and fewer discipline problems than students who do not participate. Through our athletic programs our goal is to build our students into highly effective and productive members of our community. We are honored to provide our county’s youth with enrichment opportunities through athletics as an extension of the classroom environment.
